Produces unique software for thorough automatic Quality Control of file-based media,
including automated correction.

VidCheck - Automated Video QC and Intelligent Automated Correction

VidCheck produces unique and advanced software for automated Quality Control and checking of video and audio in file-based media.

VidChecker is 2nd Generation auto QC and is faster, easier to use, and is far more cost effective than older products. It does a thorough check of checking file, video and audio parameters and quality. It can also automatically correct errors - not just 'legalization' but

.

VidFixer extends the range of corrections and includes transcoding

VidApps are plugins for QC and correction of video files in NLEs such as Final Cut Pro, Avid, and Adobe After Effects & Premiere Pro

VidChecker is simple to install on PCs / servers. The software is optimized to make use of recent multi-core and multi-thread CPUs to maximise processing speed. It is fully scalable from a single license that enables 4 files to be processed at the same time, to 8 or 12 files simultaneously on a single server, or spread across many servers working together in a VidChecker Grid for enterprise installations requiring very high throughput.

The XML based API allows it to integrated into production workflows, with asset management and automation systems, encoders and transcoders.

Checking AND Correction

VidChecker not only does thorough QC checks of file, video and audio parameters but also automatically ‘Checks and Corrects’ video and audio to ensure video is good to distribute and transmit. This includes meeting new audio loudness legislation US ‘CALM’ Act and ATSC, EBU recommendations, and can automatically write out corrected files.

Video color gamutIntelligently corrects over limit Video Levels:

  • Video Luma level - including black levels
  • Video Chroma - color limit errors
  • Video RGB - gamut/legality problems

Video 'legalizers' simply clamp or clip peak values that exceed the limits. This squeezes the range of picture contrast, can produce color artefacts where the colors become saturated and visual artefacts when the video is re-encoded. VidCheck has developed intelligent algorithms (patent applied for) that dynamically analyze the image to correct limit violations while maintaining the integrity and quality of the picture.

Intelligently corrects over limit Audio Peak levels and Loudness:

  • Audio peak level - levels that are too high Audio loudness correction
  • Audio Loudness measured to ITU-R BS.1770 and normalised to required program loudness levels - VidCheck audio loudness correctionmakes sure that audio levels are correct and legal

The US Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation (CALM) Act requires the Federal Communications Commission to regulate the audio of commercials from being broadcast at louder volumes than the program material they accompany. This became US Federal Law in December 2010.

The ATSC has issued recommended practice A/85 for Audio loudness for DTV. It recommends use of ITU-R BS.1770 for loudness measurement and techniques to control peak levels and loudness. The EBU has issued loudness normalisation recommendation R128.
